ESSAY COMPETITION
Planning on participating in the Warkworth Author Expo? Well, here is an added incentive! You are invited to submit an essay on the theme “Why Do I Write?” to our Competition which will coincide with the Expo.
Maximum length: 2500 words
Deadline: February 28,2026
WhO Will judge?
To ensure complete impartiality, authors’ names will be removed from submissions, and the essays will be judged by a panel of three judges, led by Katie Mitchell of the Warkworth War Memorial Library.
The judges’ decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding that decision
What is the prize?
The prize is Book Publishing Package from Write-On Publishing valued at $2000 (T&Cs Apply).
The package will include proofreading and technical editing of a manuscript of not more than 25 000 words, with no more than 10 black and white images, plus book formatting, cover design, ISBN number and bar code, plus printing of five complimentary copies.
then what?
After the Expo, the submissions will, with the permission of the authors, be collated into a booklet, which will be made available for sale
